Children are often shut out of connecting online due to safety concerns.
With more and more children being home schooled or not being able to find friends through the traditional routes (gone are the days where children wandered through neighborhoods without our supervision), its just harder for kids to connect. Weve found that children missed seeing other childrens work posted on classroom walls or seeing what they had built in the sandbox.
Tandem play is normal and helpful. Tandem play is getting to see the block towers other kids built while building your own. Its seeing how Katie colored her picture as it hangs next to Jasons. Its a way of learning and connecting your space to anothers. Seeing others create similar things in different ways in the same space is a huge part of creative learning and helps kids understand that they are part of a diverse wonderful community. This Unbored game app serves as the toybox and crayons and play area and the unbored game site serves as a classroom wall or communal fridge where we hang our best art for all to see.
Download the app and have fun with the the activities. Have a friend download the app and try the activities as well. Share your work with all of your friends on the unbored game website like a virtual play date!
Not only is it educational and fun but most of the activities are offline. Download free printables or instructions for an activity and when youre done you can upload your results to the website. All comments and photo submissions on the website are moderated by a team of parent volunteers. The app and website can help those who are a little shy and need a way to connect at their own pace and also those super outgoing kiddos who love to create but need to show off every pic! The app was named, designed, AND BUILT by our 6 year-old son based on his needs and what he thought was fun. So, have fun!
